Biography: I graduated with a B.S. in home economics from Cornell University in 1956, received a teaching certificated from Eastern Washington University in 1977 and a M.Ed. in special education from Gonzaga in 1981. I taught special education classes for Spokane Public Schools for seven years, became an education specialist and later, an area coordinator (program manager) for the special education department. Concurrently, in 1987, I started teaching in Gonzaga's School of Education for the special education department and have been adjunct faculty ever since. When I retired from Spokane Public Schools in 2000, I continued as an adjunct in the role of placing and supervising special education student teachers; this is my present position with Gonzaga. Additionally, I have had several short term consulting positions with other eastern Washington school districts since retirement.
My family members have close ties to Gonzaga as well. Two of my four daughters graduated from GU and another received her teaching certificate there. My husband was director of GU's studies abroad program for several years and retired in 1994. One of my sons-in-law is a strong GU booster and because of him and my daughter, I have a men's basketball season ticket at McCarthey Center.
In addition to GU basketball, I am involved in church activities, several book clubs, gardening, travel, and helping with my 12 grandchildren who are fifth generation participants at our property on Lake Coeur d'Alene.
