ProTeach Support Provider
Two Great Universities Working Together to Bring You the ProTeach Program
The Gonzaga and Whitworth ProTeach Portfolio Support Program is grounded in the unique identities and missions of both universities. Both schools of education have built their programs on service-leadership, academic excellence, social justice, and reflective and collegial practice. This program is designed to serve teachers by encouraging and equipping them to successfully complete the Professional Teacher Certificate requirements (WAC 180-78A-540) in the areas of effective practice, professional development, and professional leadership. Using a cohort model, teachers will meet to build professional relationships with other teachers whoa re working to achieve these same goals.
If enrollment is sufficient, site-based teacher cohorts tailored to specific district priorities will be formed in Spokane, Colville/Chewelah, Davenport, TriCities, Walla Walla, Moses Lake, Okanogan, Wenatchee, Yakima, and Sunnyside. Early registration will assist Whitworth and Gonzaga in confirming cohorts at each location. Classes will begin in early September.

Non-Degree Certification Programs:
- become familiar with the state requirements for the ProTeach Portfolio;
- create viable and meaningful Professional Growth Plans;
- explore the nature and dynamics of reflective practice; and
- convene and equip Professional Growth Teams to support their professional development
The capstone of the program is the submission of the ProTeach Portfolio to the Professional Educator Standards Board. The portfolio is evaluated by a PESB contractor; therefore, the support program cannot guarantee that the portfolio will pass.
