Performance-Based Teacher Certificate Endorsements

Gonzaga University has been approved by the Office of the Superintendent of Public Instruction to offer the following endorsements.

Information for Testing Requirements

WEST-B Test (Washington Educator Skills Test-Basic)


The WEST-B is a state mandated basic skills test that is required to enter any teacher preparation program in the state of Washington. The applicant will be tested in reading, writing and math. The minimum passing score for each section is 240 (out of 300).

To register for the test and for more information please go to: http://www.west.nesinc.com/.When you register for the WEST-B designate Gonzaga to receive your score report.  The School Code is 215.

Admission to the undergraduate teacher preparation program will not be considered if the applicant does not have a passing score on all three sections of the WEST-B or the required minimum scores for SAT or ACT.

WEST-E/NES (Washington Educator Skills Test-Endorsements)

Teacher candidates seeking a Residency teacher certificate and all certificated teachers wishing to add an endorsement are required to pass a content test in each chosen endorsement area. The test is the WEST-E/NES
