Pathways 1 and 2

Endorsements - Pathway 1 & 2

Note: Pathways are only available to certified teachers.

Two assessment options are available to certificated teachers who wish to add an endorsement that is compatible (Pathway 1) or similar (Pathway 2) to the endorsement held in terms of instructional methodology and content skills. Pathway 1 Assessment - Applicants must:
  • Hold an endorsement in the compatible endorsement,
  • Pass the WEST-E/Praxis II test for the desired endorsement,
  • Have a minimum of 90 days teaching experience in a public or state-approved private school in the compatible (endorsement held) subject, and
  • Apply to OSPI through an Educational Service District.

GONZAGA UNIVERSITY WILL NOT BE OFFERING PATHWAY 2
Pathway 2 Assessment – Applicants must:
  • Hold an endorsement in the similar endorsement held,
  • Be fully contracted as a teacher or long term substitute teacher by a Washington State public school or state-approved private school,
  • Pass the WEST-E/Praxis II test for the desired endorsement,
  • Have a minimum of 90 days teaching experience in a public or state-approved private school in the similar (endorsement held) subject,
  • Apply to a College/University that offers a state-approved endorsement program for the desired endorsement
  • Successfully complete two pedagogy assessments in a classroom of the endorsement desired (observed by a content area expert)
