Socially responsible professionals who serve with Care, Competence, and Commitment.
A Message From The Dean
The Gonzaga University School of Education theme statement guides not only the educational goals of the School, but also the modeling behaviors of the faculty, students, and staff. I welcome you and invite you to become a part of this endeavor.
Founded in 1928, the School of Education is a professional community of learners directed toward the betterment of society through the art and science of teaching. The teaching we speak of is not just the formal classroom delivery of knowledge in schools, but also the practicing of leadership in school administration, in school and community counseling, and in specialty areas dealing with the challenged as well as the exceptionally gifted. In all these environments our faculty and students strive to be responsible to the ideals of a democratic society; to care about others regardless of gender, ethnicity, socioeconomic status and learning abilities; to embrace learning and knowledge so that we are competent in our thinking and our actions; and we are committed to our professions as exhibited through action and the practice of social justice.
The School of Education truly believes that we “educate the people the world needs most;” teachers-leaders-scholars.
