Meet Katia Passerini, Ph.D. President, Gonzaga University

Los Angeles

Thank you to all who joined us in Los Angeles and extended a warm welcome for Gonzaga University President Katia Passerini, Ph.D. On this meaningful occasion, we reflected on the gifts of community, purpose and possibility — and how together we can open doors, empower potential and lead with hope.

Forging Forward in Los Angeles: Zags in the Spotlight

Gonzaga University brought the Bulldog spirit to Southern California as alumni, students, parents and friends gathered in Los Angeles for an energizing stop on President Katia Passerini’s national Forging Forward tour.

Held May 14 at the Griffin Club, the evening highlighted Gonzaga’s commitment to connection, purpose and a bold vision for the future, while also celebrating the vibrant Zag network in one of the country’s most influential creative hubs. The Los Angeles event marked the culmination of the LA Trek experience, where students explored opportunities in the arts, film, television and event industries. The evening brought those experiences full circle, as alumni professionals shared insights, stories and practical advice, offering students a window into the possibilities ahead.

A standout feature of the gathering was the opportunity for students and alumni to connect directly, sparking conversations that bridged classroom learning with real-world career pathways. These meaningful exchanges underscored the strength of the Zag Network and its commitment to mentorship and service.

President Passerini addressed attendees as part of her Forging Forward tour, a national series designed to engage the Gonzaga community in shaping the University’s future. She spoke to Gonzaga’s Jesuit, Catholic and humanistic mission and invited those in attendance to reflect on how their own experiences and leadership can help move the University forward. The evening also celebrated the alumni who made the LA Trek experiences possible. Special thanks to Danielle Cendejas (’04), Mandi Price (’14), Natasha De Alto (’11), Melanie Palmer (’16), Rachel Carlson (’18), Mike Fox (’76) and Kayliana Prioleau (’19) for generously sharing their time, expertise and passion and helping the next generation of Zags succeed.

As the night concluded, one thing was clear: whether in Spokane or LA, the Gonzaga community continues to show up for one another—building connections, opening doors and forging a shared path forward together.
