_____________

The MIT program focuses on preparing exemplary K-12 educators with a variety of classroom based experiences and theoretical applications. We offer both elementary and secondary certification as well as a master's degree.

Our coursework and field experiences are structured on the premise that a classroom teacher is a decision-maker whose primary responsibilities fall in four categories:

  • Preparing For Instruction
  • Implementing Effective Instructional Strategies
  • Assessing Classroom Decisions
  • Creating a Positive Learning Environment

Why Select Gonzaga for your Teaching Certification and Master's Degree Choice?

Adaptable Scheduling
We provide a flexible, learner-centered preparation program that meets the demands of a busy lifestyle.

Evening Classes
Evening and occasional weekend classes best accommodate those adults who must balance the demands of continued employment or family commitments.

Cohort Intimacy
Our students achieve teaching excellence best in the context of caring, on-going relationships. With this in mind we structure our classes to develop a community of committed learners.

Mission Based Education
Directed by our Jesuit mission, we to prepare educational leaders to serve others in need and demonstrate a commitment to social justice.

Practical Application Through Field Experiences
A 13 or 24-month course cycle with three field experiences and a semester-long internship integrates the classroom reality with applicable theoretical content

Reduced Tuition Rates
Programs are designed as a cohort based delivery model. Full cohorts are eligible for reduced tuition.

Teachers Teaching Teachers
The act of teaching must be modeled and informed by successful K-12 teachers. All of our faculty have extensive K-12 experience. Our goal is to model effective instructional practice, offer practical insight into the teaching act and present an appropriate balance of theory and practice.
