Boyd Foster completed his doctorate in Exercise and Wellness at Arizona State University. Prior to that, he worked in Sports and Worksite Rehabilitation for several physical therapy groups, and taught anatomy and physiology. A former Certified Athletic Trainer, he worked with the 1985 NCAA Division I volleyball champions from The University of The Pacific.
His previous research focused on resting metabolic rate, respiratory quotient, and their relationship in predicting successful fat loss among obese premenopausal women. He has also investigated the role of testosterone in fat gain/loss among the same population, with particular emphasis on minority women.
Currently, Dr. Foster's interests include the role of culture as it relates to activity and nutrition education among minority youth; prediction of adult activity participation levels based on high school physical education experience and attitudes; and outcome measures for students completing health-related fitness activity/content courses compared to more traditional physical education delivery systems.

I have just completed thirty years of teaching in physical education, ranging from Preschool to College. Coaching numerous sports has occupied my time as well. A Spokane native, I received my B.Ed & M.Ed from Eastern Washington University and my PhD from Gonzaga University. I recently acquired my CSCS Certified Strength and Conditioning Specialist certification. The love of the outdoors is evident in all I do.

An original "Okie from Muskogee." I attended Northeastern Oklahoma State University for my undergraduate and master's degree and Oklahoma State University for my doctorate. Currently I am the director of our undergraduate physical education program. I am active in WAHPERD, NWDA-AHPERD and AAHPERD. For our district professional association NWDA-AHPERD I am the Newsletter Editor.
