Want to get your Residency Teaching Certification? Here's a great way – ESD 101's Alternate Routes to Certification Program!

  • A program that honors your professional experience
  • The possibility of an internship near your home
  • A schedule designed with busy adults and professionals in mind
  • Opportunities for grants, loans & other forms of financial aid
  • Fieldwork emphasized; less campus classroom work
  • Includes a summer practicum plus a year-long mentored internship

    Schedule

  • Full-Day orientation
  • Series of two-day workshops over the summer
  • A weekday summer practicum
  • Saturday classes in Fall and Winter
  • A field-based internship during the school year

    Who Can Apply
    You are eligible to apply if:

  • you are not certified, or have an emergency credential,
  • you hold a bachelor's degree in an area of shortage as defined by the state, and
  • you are currently working within a public school or have more than five years' professional experience.

    You must also pass the WEST-B test of basic skills, and the PRAXIS test in your endorsement area prior to applying.

  • Complete a program application
  • Sign up for and attend an information session and group interview
  • Register for the WEST-B test of basic skills (information and study guide at http://www.west.nesinc.com). Note: use code 308 "Gonzaga University (ESD 101)" rather than the GU code!
  • Register for the PRAXIS test in your endorsement area (information at http://www.ets.org/praxis/prxwa.html). Note: use code A3064 "ACP ESD 101 Reg Cons Pgm"
