At Gonzaga University's Art Department, you'll find uncrowded, quiet studios that allow for reflection and exploration. You'll find one-on-one time with experienced professors who know your name and encourage your ideas. You'll also find ample opportunities to investigate different forms of media. Studio art classes include the areas of ceramics, design, drawing, painting, and printmaking. Students pursuing a degree in the visual arts can investigate a variety of visual experiences through a study of both the studio arts and art history. The Art Department offers a Bachelor of Arts degree in Art. Starting Fall 2015 the Art Department curriculum will also include a minor in art history. Some of the department's courses are also offered at Gonzaga-in-Florence.
For teacher certification, students should confer with the School of Education. For students intending to go to graduate school, additional work beyond the minimum major requirements is strongly encouraged.
