Digital Humanities Initiative
Welcome to Digital Humanities at Gonzaga University. The Digital Humanities Initiative is comprised of interdisciplinary College of Arts and Sciences faculty committed to engaging digital methods and emerging technologies to enrich our classrooms, develop innovative teaching methodologies, and meaningfully engage in student-faculty collaborative research.
Digital Humanities offers Gonzaga faculty exciting new opportunities for pedagogical innovation that complements the model of Ignatian Pedagogy at the heart of the larger humanistic and Jesuit identity of Gonzaga University. While Digital Humanities seems to eschew attempts at definition, we understand it to be a collaborative and interdisciplinary space where technological innovations and capabilities intersect with teaching and scholarship. By expanding the context and realm of experience, digitally-enabled teaching opens new, creative avenues for active learning and serious reflection in our classrooms while also offering a bridge between the academic environments of university classrooms with the real, lived experience of an increasingly digital and technology-driven world.
