Excellence Extends Beyond the Game

Career Wellness involves having the knowledge and skills to search for and cultivate a fulfilling and meaningful career.

Career wellness at Gonzaga University is all about equipping our student-athletes with the knowledge and skills they need to find and build a fulfilling and meaningful career. We understand that life after sports is just as important as the time spent on the field, court, or water, and we are committed to helping our athletes succeed in all aspects of their lives.

Through our comprehensive career development programs, we offer resources and support to help student-athletes explore their interests, develop their talents, and prepare for their future careers. This includes workshops, mentorship opportunities, and networking events designed to connect them with professionals in their fields of interest. Our goal is to ensure that every student-athlete feels confident and prepared to pursue their passions and achieve their career goals.

At Gonzaga, we believe that a successful career is one that brings both personal satisfaction and a sense of purpose. By focusing on career wellness, we help our student-athletes not only excel in their chosen professions but also lead meaningful and impactful lives.

Unlock your potential with our career development resources.

Career Wellness Resources for Student-Athletes

This program particularly embodies Zags360’s commitment to holistic and lasting wellness. Life After Sport workshops are developed with student-athlete input, aiming to provide current and graduating Zags with resources and insight to serve them in their post-collegiate lives. Workshops include career and professional development, the transition out of sport, and lifelong strategies to maintain wellness.

The marquee career development event for senior Zags, giving them the opportunity to practice networking and self-promotion skills with invited professional guests.

Each year, the Senior Student-Athlete Resume Book is compiled to showcase the efforts and accomplishments of senior Zags as they look to transition into life after Gonzaga. Paired with the Senior Networking Social and distributed to alumni and employers, the Senior Resume Book provides an advantage and accessibility as seniors look to make connections in the professional arena.

Gonzaga University’s Career & Professional Development (CPD) empowers student athletes—and all students—to thrive beyond the game by offering a robust suite of career-focused services tailored to their unique talents and goals. From one-on-one coaching and resume building to on-campus internships and professional portrait sessions, CPD equips Zags with the confidence, clarity and connections needed for success in competitive career fields. Through platforms like ZagsIgnite and ZagsConnect, student athletes gain access to exclusive job and internship opportunities, alumni mentorship networks and career excursions (“Treks”) to major cities—creating pathways to long-term achievement. Whether preparing for life after graduation or exploring multiple professional interests, CPD ensures that each student athlete has the personalized guidance and resources to turn their Gonzaga experience into lifelong success.

With ZagsIgnite, Gonzaga University's job search and recruiting platform, students can find solutions to their career development needs, including:

  • Connect with employers and organizations all over the country for job & internship opportunities
  • Schedule individual career advising appointments
  • Find information about upcoming Career & Professional Development career fairs, events, and programming

The Gonzaga Alumni Mentor Program lives on ZagsConnect, a self-service platform that works like LinkedIn- but specifically for Zags! Students and graduates can connect with mentors in industries/professions related to their academic majors or desired career fields. The primary goal of the program is to establish a relationship between the mentee and mentor that facilitates informed career decision-making and the development of a network that results in increased career opportunities.
