International Studies

The International Studies program is an interdisciplinary program in which students take courses offered by a number of humanities and social sciences departments in the Gonzaga University College of Arts and Sciences. The program offers students the opportunity to combine the study of a modern foreign language with other course work in order to learn about the society, politics, and history of other cultures. Students may major in International Studies in order to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in International Studies, or may complete a minor. Within the program there are four areas of concentration for both the major and minor in Asian Studies, European Studies, Latin American Studies, and International Relations.

Majoring in International Studies

International Studies majors choose one of four areas in which to concentrate:

All majors, no matter which concentration they choose, take courses for a total of 42 credits which fulfill the following program requirements:

  • Modern Language
  • International Studies Core Courses
  • International Studies Electives
  • Complete a Senior Project

Minoring in International Studies

International Studies minors also choose one of the four areas in which to concentrate, and then complete courses appropriate to that concentration. All minors complete a total of 29 credits in meeting the following requirements:

  • Modern Language
  • International Studies Core Courses
  • International Studies Electives
