Professor Schumacher teaches classes on language, literature, and culture as Assistant Professor of Spanish at Gonzaga University. He received his Ph.D. from the University of Wisconsin-Madison in 2017, with an emphasis on contemporary Latin American literature. His doctoral thesis treats the intersections of performance, politics, and participation with poetic production of the late 20th century. His research interests include Juan Luis Martinez, Chilean poetry, the neo-avant-gardes in Latin America, translation theory, and experimental poetics and performance.
