The Climate Literacy Program Coordinator assists in organizing and running the Climate Literacy Project. The chief goal of the Climate Literacy Project is to bring about an intergenerational transformation in worldview to nourish equitable human societies within flourishing ecological communities. The program coordinator will assist other Climate Institute staff and partners to create climate education resources, workshops, and learning experiences with a focus on place-based and hope-filled experiential learning to expand the understanding of and response to the climate crisis.

Event and Communication Assistant: Hiring anticipated in spring/summer 2026
The Climate Institute Event and Communication Assistants help organize events, design marketing and communication materials, maintain social media accounts and more. The Event and Communication Assistants will collaborate with both the Climate Resilience and Climate Literacy Projects to amplify their work and help coordinate impactful events.

The Institute’s Climate Literacy Project works with K-12 students and teachers to advance the understanding of the social, cultural, and scientific causes of climate change. We hire undergraduates to serve as Climate Literacy Fellows. Fellows work in teams to deliver targeted climate literacy activities in K-8 classrooms in the Spokane area.

The Institute’s Climate Resilience Project works to build community resilience to extreme heat and wildfire smoke events in the Inland Northwest. We hire undergraduates to serve as Climate Project Assistants (CPAs). CPAs attend community events on behalf of the Institute, carry out research, and offer general support to the Climate Resilience Project.
