About This Event
In 1946, Spokane hosted the first U.S. Women's Open Championship, launching a legacy that transformed women's golf and expanded opportunities for generations of female athletes. Eighty years later, Spokane returns to center stage to celebrate this historic milestone and the women whose courage, determination, and leadership continue to inspire us.
As part of the Spokane 80 celebration, Women Lead and Gonzaga University's School of Leadership Studies are proud to host a special Women Lead summer event honoring Becky Calder, a pioneering aviator, military leader, and the first female pilot to graduate from the U.S. Navy's elite TOPGUN program. Her remarkable journey reflects the power of resilience, excellence, and breaking barriers in spaces where women have historically been underrepresented.
