Daily Crime Log

The Daily Crime Log is a record of all criminal incidents and alleged criminal incidents that are reported to directly to Campus Security & Public Safety (CSPS) or to Campus Security & Public Safety via Campus Security Authorities residing in Florence. Not all criminal incidents listed have been confirmed to have taken place. Crime log case numbers do not run sequentially. Campus Safety and Public Security assigns a case number for all reports, both criminal and non-criminal. GIF Administration does not assign case numbers to incidents, so case numbers for incidents reported from GIF Administration will be assigned to incidents by the Clery Compliance Coordinator for Daily Crime Log purposes. Furthermore, reports collected from the Resolution Center for Student Conduct and Conflict use a different case number system.

Crimes are in chronological order from when the crime was reported to CSPS. Reports made to GIF Administration, the Office of Housing and Residence Life office or the Resolution Center for Student Conduct and Conflict are collected by CSPS on a weekly or biweekly basis. The report date on these incidents will reflect the day the crime was collected by CSPS, not to one of the aforementioned offices. This log will include publicly available reports from the previous 60 days, at minimum. Crimes will be added to the Daily Log within two business days of the date they were reported to CSPS.

The crime log classification will not match the crime statistics reported in the Annual Security Report (ASR), as the ASR is compiled using the Federal Uniformed Crime Reporting Summary Reporting definitions and standards of National Incident Based Reporting System definitions as required by the Clery Act. Several types of crime log incidents may be recorded using different definitions for purposes other than Clery Act reporting.

The locations provided for each incident are approximate and may be inclusive of the public streets and sidewalks surrounding the property. The daily crime log includes all crimes reported to have occurred within the designated GIF Clery geographical boundaries.
