Students overlooking Florence

About Us

Welcome to the Gonzaga in Florence website!

Since 1963 Gonzaga in Florence has been the flagship study abroad program for Gonzaga University students. We also host students from a number of partner universities within the Jesuit network of colleges and universities in the United States. As part of Gonzaga University, the Gonzaga in Florence campus defines itself as an exemplary learning community that educates students for lives of leadership and service for the common good. In keeping with its Catholic, Jesuit, and humanistic heritage and identify, Gonzaga in Florence models and expects excellence in academic and professional pursuits and intentionally develops the whole person—intellectually, spiritually, physically, and emotionally.

In keeping with this mission, Gonzaga in Florence aims at creating opportunities for our students to actively engage with our host communities in Florence. Beyond visiting museums, churches, and other monuments, Gonzaga in Florence students are active members of the Florentine community. Our students are interns in local business, volunteers with local charities, teaching assistants for English classes at local schools, or through or very popular English for Pasta program. Our broad range of courses all offer opportunities for students to learn outside of the classroom, taking advantage of the unique cultural resources at hand in Florence.

Through this website we hope to find more venues of engagement for our students with the local community. We consider this website an invitation for new ideas and proposals for collaboration with our friends and colleagues in Florence. Please contact us through this website if you would like to know more about Gonzaga in Florence.
