Joseph F. Albert, Ph.D.
Associate Professor
and Department Chair
Tilford 218

albert@gonzaga.edu

Dr. Albert has been with the ORGL program since 1994 and has had a strong hand in shaping the program as it stands today. He is the current Department Chair and is involved in studies focused on Organizational Dynamics, Personal Narrative, Authenticity, Attachment, and Psychology. He works with other universities and local organizations on Leadership Development programs focused on intentionally developing future leaders both academically and in real-world situations. Recently he submitted a college course to the National Endowment for the Humanities for their Enduring Questions Grant entitled "Who Am I" focused on Authenticity and Narrative of leadership.

In the future Dr. Albert hopes to produce work on Authentic Leadership by exploring the underlying factors of authentic leadership. Specifically looking at Captain Earnest Shackelton and his experiences in trying to explore the South Pole and how it compares and contrasts with Ahab from Moby Dick. He also wants to use the entertainment icon Bruce Springsteen to explore Servant Leadership through his experiences, career, and music.

In his off time, Dr. Albert trains for participating in triathlons, spends time with his family, and reflects on his work - both ongoing and future.

Dennis Conners

Dennis Conners
Associate Professor
Tilford 232

conners@gonzaga.edu

Dennis Arthur Conners came to the Department of Organizational Leadership with over 30 years experience as an educational leader.  He likes to say that he is a "recovering administrator" referring to his practitioner roles as a principal and assistant principal in the K-12 system and program director, dean and academic vice president in higher education.  Interspersed with the practice of leading, he "preaches" the theory of leadership in graduate programs at both the master's and doctoral level.  His writing and research focus primarily on transformational learning and leading.  In particular, he is concerned with how graduate leadership programs can intentionally turn the curriculum inside out, reconnecting the learning agenda with the real world outside to integrate theory, consciousness, and profound social change.

Married for over 35 years to his wife Barbara, they have two grown children both in education.
