The Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra is comprised of students, faculty, and musicians from the greater Spokane community.
Open to all students by audition, the orchestra performs regularly at the acoustically outstanding and historic Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox. It has a long tradition as one of the finest community orchestras in the region and its repertoire contains some of the most demanding pieces in orchestral music.
The orchestra has featured soloists of national and international distinction, including soprano Arianna Zukerman; pianists Simone Dinnerstein, Navah Perlman, Natasha Paremski and Awadagin Pratt; violinists Giora Schmidt, Kyung Sun Lee, Elmira Darvarova, Kurt Nikkanen, Tim Fain and Jinjoo Cho; violist Paul Coletti; cellists Daniel Gaisford, Sung-Won Yang and Amit Peled; and double bassist Gary Karr. Soloists for this season include cellist Matt Haimovitz and clarinetist Richard Stoltzman.

The Gonzaga Symphony also hosts the prestigious Young Artists' Concerto and Aria Competition, giving Gonzaga students the opportunity to solo with the orchestra. Applications are now being accepted for the 2017 Competition. All GU enrolled students in applied lessons are encouraged to apply. The deadline is December 16 with auditions in January. The winner(s) will perform with the Gonzaga Symphony Orchestra on March 6, 2017, 7:30pm at the Martin Woldson Theater at the Fox.
