SAACS Science Club
The Gonzaga University chapter of the Student Affiliates of the American Chemical Society (SAACS) maintains an active science club. Students majoring in chemistry, biology, physics, and engineering have been involved with the club. Officers are elected each year to fill the positions of President, Vice President, Secretary and Treasurer. The club has been regularly involved in National Chemistry Week (NCW) and Mole Day activities in late October. Each year there is a different NCW theme and the club has prepared hands-on demonstrations and posters to educate and entertain children in the community. Recent themes include the “The Joy of Toys” and “Your Home–It's All Built on Chemistry.” The club has also put on classroom demonstrations for elementary school students and Girl Scouts. Earth Day activities such as cleaning up Riverside State Park have recently been performed by the club. In addition, the club plans to continue their annual T-shirt design contest and T-shirt fundraiser each spring.
