Housing more than 3,000 students a year across 21 residence halls, Gonzaga University is committed to inclusion and creating a seamless process for residents seeking accommodations. This year, those efforts were highlighted on the website of StarRez, the leading provider of university housing software with over 3.5 million residents managed worldwide.

StarRez additionally emphasized Gonzaga’s student-friendly approach and effective support with its efficient team and online system.

Housing accommodations can look very different depending on the case. One in 13 students benefit from housing accommodations. According to Gonzaga Housing and Residence Life, there is no set list for what accommodations HRL provides and accepts. Wheelchair-accessible rooms, temperature control or handles added in key places are just a few examples of past accommodations. Every request is different and reviewed by HRL.

Through effective support and time-saving work of Housing and Residence Life, students not only received more accommodatable options thanks to the added time, but staff saved 28 hours that would have been previously spent on the room selection process.

“Not only is online room selection more transparent, but it results in less tears and tissues,” said Lisa Owens, associate director of housing operations.

“Students have shared that this process minimizes stress and provides them more time. Everyone is happier.”

The University continues striving to create the most inclusive experience possible, ensuring all students receive the tools for success in lives of leadership and service. That commitment extends to all locations on campus and is especially essential in the residence halls.
