G.U. Alumni Association Scholar, '07-'10
B.B.A., Accounting & Business Administration, '10
Both of David’s parents, plus an aunt and an uncle, attended Gonzaga. “I came to visit my uncle when I was six and from that point forward Gonzaga was always the school to compare all others to. When I came back to visit while in high school I could feel the strong community atmosphere and knew I belonged here.”
“I chose accounting because I wanted to be involved in business and I had heard that accounting was the language of business and would give me a great background and provide a number of opportunities as well.” David’s favorite professor is Dr. Gerhard Barone in accounting. “He does a fantastic job explaining the ‘why’ behind whatever material we covered. He does this with a fantastic sense of humor and care for his students.”
David deeply values the great friendships he has established at Gonzaga over long dinners at the COG, late-night conversations in the residence halls, and countless other activities. “I truly think that this exemplifies the wonderful bonds that Gonzaga fosters, which I consider to be the most important and beneficial part of my time spent here.”
David has been providing leadership within the residence hall system, serving as a resident assistant and assistant residence director. In so doing, he carries on a family legacy: his parents, Richard and Mary (Lodzinski) served as co-residence directors of Catherine Monica Hall in the 1980s.
David also has served others by putting his accounting knowledge to work in the VITA program, which provides income tax return preparation assistance to low income individuals.
After he graduates this spring, David will return home to Denver to study for and take the CPA exam. After that he will return to Spokane to take a position with Moss Adams LLP, a public accounting firm, as a staff accountant.
