Jennifer Van Houdt
Hooker Creek Ranch Scholarship
2010-2011 Recipient: Jennifer Van Houdt
Jennifer, a senior at Gonzaga, attended Regis High School in Stayton, Oregon. Her father is an engineer for a trailer construction company and her mother is a home health nurse. While in high school, Jennifer's extracurricular activities included working on the yearbook, competing in cross country, track and field, and soccer, and being active in student government and theater projects.
Her love of theater has carried through to Gonzaga, where she spends much of her spare time either stage managing or directing. Jennifer is majoring in English and Classics because she is devoted to the study of narrative and how it affects people's lives.
Why Gonzaga? "Because of the great scholarships, extracurricular activities, and its beautiful campus!" What she likes best, now that she's spent three+ years here, is the welcoming community and small class sizes.
She hopes to attend graduate school after leaving Gonzaga, but is considering a stint of volunteer service with either Teach for America or the Jesuit Volunteer Corps first.
Her message to the benefactor responsible for her scholarship: "Thank you so much. I have been enjoying and experiencing Gonzaga to the fullest!"
