About This Event
Translated by Martin Crimp and directed by guest artist Josh Stamoolis, Gonzaga University's Spring 2023 theatre mainstage is Eugene Ionesco's 1959 masterwork, Rhinoceros! A meditation, among others, on the spread of dangerous ideologies and baseless beliefs, the denizens of a small provincial town begin turning, one by one--to the increasing alarm of our protagonist--into rampaging pachyderms. Join us as we explore this classic midcentury play that remains absurdly funny and rings shockingly fresh. This translation of Rhinoceros was first produced by the English Stage Company at the Royal Court Theatre on 21 September 2007.
