Rural Health a Priority for Zag - UW Med Student Pearl Griffiths
Pearl Griffiths, a 2020 Gonzaga grad (biology and chemistry), learned about ranch life when her family moved to Colfax, Washington, during her high school years. When she later searched for a medical school, she found that the UW School of Medicine matched her passion for rural health.
"One of my most rewarding experiences was participating in the Rural Underserved Opportunities Program (RUOP), a four-week elective immersion in community medicine," she says. "I worked at a small clinic in Clarkston, Washington, and partnered with Habitat for Humanity to create outreach materials about the impact of housing stability on health."
