Gonzaga in Berlin: Technology in Medicine
Today, Gonzaga students went to the Charitè University Hospital to listen to a lecture given by an SRH University Professor on using new technology to improve medicine. The lecture mainly focused on the use of realistic simulations for grad students to practice real life scenarios on a “patient.” This simulation consisted of a doll that copied breathing, and could simulate multiple medical emergencies, including cardiac arrest and low blood sugar and pressure levels. The lecture also consisted of discussions involving was to improve ICU care and improvements to how we practice medicine today. After the lecture was over, some of us went to the Natural History Museum (Museum fur Naturkunde) while others went on to see different parts of Berlin.
