GONZAGA: Introduce yourself!

WHITLATCH: I'm Hays Whitlatch, I'm a professor of Mathematics. Some areas that I'm involved with here on campus is I run the Discrete Math seminar, I am involved a bit with the Lincoln Center, that's the LGBTQI+ community, and I'm also the faculty in residence for the Honors Living Community in Dillon Hall.

What is your favorite place on campus?

I have two favorite places on campus. During the summertime my favorite place is the river, I love to go paddle boarding, and in the wintertime its right about here [second floor Bollier] so I can see the sunset over the city.

Best piece of advice for students?

My best piece of advice for students is get to know your faculty. They're here to help you out and they want to see you succeed.

What should every Gonzaga student experience?

One thing I think every Gonzaga student should experience is walking across the stage at graduation. You work so hard, probably for four years, you might as well do it.

What's one thing people may not know about you?

My fun fact is that I actually grew up in Argentina so I am bilingual, but I have been in the United States for 20 years now. I'm also learning to speak Italian.
