Gonzaga Law Northern Lights Alumni Event

About This Event

Join Gonzaga University School of Law this February 4 through 8 for an unforgettable journey to Alaska to see the Northern Lights! Take in Alaska’s vast terrain via train from Anchorage to Fairbanks with Dean Rooksby and fellow ZagLaw alumni. We will see Denali National Park and other remarkable sights before staying at Chena Hot Springs, an ideal location for Northern Lights viewing. In addition to seeing the aurora borealis, we will make time for a dogsled ride and cultural tours of the area.

Please note: Registration for the Anchorage CLE is still open, but registration for the Chena Hot Springs package is closed. 

Itinerary  

Friday, February 4

Anchorage Continuing Legal Education event at Hotel Captain Cook, $75

(Application for two credits is pending. Topic TBD by mid-October.)

Saturday, February 5

8:30 AM: Train to Fairbanks - attendees should make their own train reservations for the Aurora Winter Train or may choose to fly to Fairbanks.*

• If traveling via train, please indicate on your seating preference to be seated near Jacob Rooksby so you will be in the same car as the group
• The train leaves Anchorage at 8:30am and arrives in Fairbanks at 8:00pm on February 5^th

8:00 PM: Train arrives in Fairbanks; transfer to shuttle for Chena Hot Springs

10:00 PM: Arrive at Chena Hot Springs

Sunday, February 6

1:00 PM: Ice Museum Tour

2:00 PM: Chena CLE (topic TBA by mid-October), $50 

9:30 PM: Aurora Viewing 

Monday, February 7

10:00 AM: Dog Sledding and free day

Tuesday, February 8

Departures for airport (Chena is approximately 90 minutes from Fairbanks)

Chena Hot Springs Pricing** 

1 person - $1400

2 people - $2100

3 people - $2800

4 people - $3500

Chena package includes: 

• Round Trip transportation from Fairbanks to Chena Hot Springs
• Three nights stay at Moose Lodge
• Hot springs passes and towel service
• Dog sled/cart ride
• Geothermal Energy tour
• Aurora Ice Museum Tour
• Aurora Viewing Tour
• 8 meals per person

* Transportation to and from Alaska and from Anchorage to Fairbanks is not included in the package price. This is intended to help remain flexible for participants who wish to only attend one part of the weekend or do not wish to travel via train from Anchorage to Fairbanks. 

** The Chena Hot Springs Pricing does not include the fee for the two CLE events.
