About This Event
Tech developers often focus on designing habit-forming products that maximize users’ time on a device or app. But addictive technology often has negative health effect on users. Is there a role regulation can play to help counteract the negative effects of addictive technology, and how do we balance regulation against First Amendment concerns?Join CLEC for our final lecture in our fall Brown Bag Lecture Series featuring Kyle Langvardt, professor and First Amendment scholar.
About the Speaker:
Kyle Langvardt is a First Amendment scholar who focuses on the Internet’s implications for free expression both as a matter of constitutional doctrine and as a practical reality. His written work addresses new and confounding policy issues including tech addiction, the collapse of traditional gatekeepers in online media and 3D-printable weapons. Joining the Nebraska College of Law faculty in July 2020 as a member of the Nebraska Technology & Governance Center, Professor Langvardt’s most recent papers appear in the Georgetown Law Journal, the Fordham Law Review and the George Mason Law Review.
