About This Event

The entire Spokane community is welcome to participate in this Toy Adaptation Workshop, learning how to fit standard electronic toys with a special port that allows special needs kids to play using adaptive switches.

After the ports are installed, toys will be reassembled and given to some of the approximately three thousand young children in Spokane County with a physical, mental or sensory disability.

A long list of toys works with this program, including dancing characters, musical animals, and various toys that glow or spin. Toys are provided.

This Toy Adaptation Program was developed at the Ohio State University College of Engineering. Dorie is working with the school’s Living Learning Community at Goller & Dillon Halls to arrange the toy drive and workshop.

Anyone in the Inland Northwest can attend, participants are asked to RSVP through dorie@gonzaga.edu.
