People and their stories...

There is a moment in the college decision process when an admitted student pauses and wonders, “Will I belong there?” Facts and figures matter, but that question is answered most powerfully by people and their stories.

That’s why I’m grateful to share this bright spot: Gonzaga’s Office of Alumni Relations is partnering with Enrollment Management to invite alumni to personally welcome admitted students into the Zag Fam. Alumni volunteers will offer a note of congratulations and encouragement, and often a story or two about what life at Gonzaga can become. Small gestures, lasting impact.

The model is simple and scalable. Volunteers complete a short form, then receive a list of accepted students, postcards, and clear instructions for reaching out. It’s quick, meaningful, and deeply Gonzaga.

I want to celebrate the teams that built this bridge between alumni pride and student enrollment, and I want to thank alumni who are raising a hand to help future Bulldogs feel the warmth of the Zag network. I’m also grateful to the donors whose investment strengthens the student experience that alumni are so proud to share. This is relationship-centered work at its best, connecting Gonzaga’s past, present and future in one real exchange.

Thank you for believing in connection as a strategy and community as a promise. I’m excited to see the impact this will have, one postcard, one story at a time.
