Molly Dundon

Hooker Creek Ranch Scholarship

2010-2011 Recipient:  Molly Dundon

Molly Dundon

Molly has watched her hometown of Happy Valley grow up with her. "When I was in elementary school, there were horses across the street from my school and now the school has been replaced by a new elementary and middle school combined to accommodate the growth in this once small town."

Her parents both commute into the city for their work: her mother as a nurse in a family birth center, and her father as an information technologist.

Molly was a busy high school student - played the violin in a chamber orchestra, worked with children in a local preschool, and captained the racquetball team - and now that she's at Gonzaga, she hasn't slowed down a bit. She is a sophomore majoring in Special Education with an Early Childhood Special Education and Elementary endorsement. In addition to her studies she is involved in Gonzaga's science education outreach program, the Campus Kids mentoring program, and Saturday Literacy Tutoring project that serves young schoolchildren.

After she graduates from Gonzaga, she hopes to teach in a special education classroom in a low income area. She also is considering returning to school for a master's degree.

Molly's gratitude for her scholarship is evident:  "THANK YOU! I cannot express the difference that this scholarship has made in my education. With your support I am able to focus on my studies and feel comforted that I made the right choice in coming to Gonzaga. Because of you, I can get my degree and continue on to teach our future generations with confidence."
