Application Requirements
Admission to the Accelerated BSN (ABSN) program is competitive and based on a comprehensive review of your qualifications.
Although the ABSN is a post-baccalaureate undergraduate degree, applications are processed through Gonzaga's Graduate Admissions office on behalf of the School of Health Sciences Nursing Department.
Important ABSN Dates & Deadlines
- Application Opens: September 1, 2026
- Application Deadline: February 1, 2027
- Classes Start: May 17, 2027
ABSN Eligibility
- Bachelor’s Degree from a regionally accredited college or university
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 across all collegiate work
- Minimum 3.0 GPA cumulative required in prerequisite courses
- Prerequisite courses must have a C or better in each course

Official Transcripts
Submit one official transcript from each college or university you attended.
- If your cumulative GPA falls below 2.5, please include an explanation of your GPA.
- If you previously attended Gonzaga or are a current student, GU transcripts are ordered by your Admissions Counselor on your behalf.

Recommendations
Provide two people who can evaluate your leadership, interpersonal skills, critical thinking, and your ability to complete the program. A supervisor or past professor is a smart choice. Letters of recommendation are facilitated through the online application. Recommendations from family members are not accepted.
Statement of Purpose
Describe your motivation for pursuing an ABSN and explain how your academic, professional and personal experiences have prepared you for the rigor of the program. Discuss your understanding of the role of the professional nurse and how it aligns with your personal values, career aspirations, and commitment to serving patients, communities, and the nursing profession.
Resume/CV
Current professional background outlining academic achievements, work, or healthcare volunteer experience.
Mandatory Clinical Readiness Requirements
Upon acceptance into the program, admitted candidates must fulfill standard healthcare safety requirements prior to clinical placements:
- Immunization Records: Hepatitis B series, MMR, Varicella, Tdap, Annual Influenza, and COVID-19 vaccination/boosters.
- Annual Screenings: Annual Tuberculosis (TB) testing and background checks/drug screening as mandated by clinical partners.
