“Zags Help Zags” has been a long-standing motto at Gonzaga University, reflecting the supportive community on campus. Whether it's helping a fellow Zag in class or simply holding a door open for others, Zags always find ways to help one another. As students settle back into campus life, listen to current Zags share their experiences of when they truly felt the spirit of “Zags Help Zags” on campus!

I enjoy the bonds that are built with classmates over the years! Being in nursing, we've spent the past four years getting to know each other through classes we've had together. Now we meet up to study together, walk together to get coffee between classes, and offer each other rides to class and clinicals. The support and friendship I've built with my classmates has made college so fun (even in the thick of classes!).

I am grateful that my cohort of nursing students is so supportive. Whether it's attending study groups for a test, practicing vitals together, or grabbing a coffee before a busy day, it is great to have such a supportive group of people. I know that if there is a concept that I find confusing or something that I have a question about, there is always someone there to help.

I have experienced the spirit of "Zags Help Zags" many times within classrooms. Students have always offered to exchange numbers with me to help understand readings. My professors have also been extremely helpful in the classroom and during office hours by always making a comfortable environment to ask questions which they are always willing to answer. Professors have also helped me outside of the classroom by helping me with job and scholarship searches.

Of course, everyone at Gonzaga has experienced the spirit of "Zags Help Zags" here on campus. I have also experienced it back at home in Boise, Idaho. I have had experiences of walking downtown wearing a Zag hat or Zag shirt and hearing people scream "Go Zags!" Often, a conversation gets struck up, and I have even exchanged contact info with alums. The community love of being a Zag is worldwide.

One of the best aspects of Gonzaga is our community here. I am very lucky to have such a wonderful community of professors and students in the Human Physiology department. No matter where I study, I always can find a classmate who is more than happy to collaborate. Zags will always be there to help another Zag.
