This story is one of a series written by students in the Gonzaga in Delft program, a course from the Civil Engineering department exploring sustainable practices of the Netherlands.

We started the day with a one-on-one writing workshop meeting to talk through the second part of our writing assignment that will later turn into the sustainability recommendations we have for the city of Spokane.

For lunch, a few of us checked out the Thursday market here in Delft. There was a bunch of cool vendors and plenty of great food to choose from.

In the afternoon, Dr. Sue gave us a lecture on some of the negative effects of the Delta works projects and how the Netherlands is trying to limit these with the help of nature-based solutions.

Afterwards, a few of us walked over to Jumbo with some glass bottles and cans to recycle them for a little extra money back. To end the day, I went on a short bike ride around old town Delft and got some ice cream in the town square.
