Imagining the Irrevocable in Toni Morrison’s "Home" and the work of Artist Tracy Poindexter-Canton

In conjunction with its current exhibit, "Home: Imagining the Irrevocable," the Gonzaga University Urban Arts Center (GUUAC) will host a book discussion of Nobel Prize-winning author Toni Morrison's novel, "Home."

Published in 2012, the book examines the meaning of "home" from the perspective of two siblings amid the backdrop of 1950's America, Jim Crow and the infancy of the Civil Rights Movement.

Additionally, attendees will learn more about local artist Tracy Poindexter-Canton's latest visual work, "Although rooted in mud, Lotus became her Home," created in response to Morrison's novel.

Discussion will be co-facilitated by Poindexter-Canton and Dr. Jessica Maucione, Gonzaga University Professor of English and Women's & Gender Studies.
