New Student Liaison Role to Strengthen Communication, Belonging, and Advocacy

At the request/recommendation of students, a new paid student liaison position will help strengthen communication between the Unity Alliance of Cultural Clubs and Gonzaga University leadership as part of the ongoing work of the President's Task Force on Accompaniment, Safety, and Belonging. The position was created to support stronger channels for dialogue, transparency, and trust across the University community and to ensure student perspectives remain central to conversations about campus climate and student experience.

The student liaison will serve as a bridge between Unity Alliance of Cultural Club leaders and Gonzaga University administration, helping elevate student perspectives while sharing updates and information about University initiatives. The role is intended to foster greater understanding, strengthen relationships, and support Gonzaga's commitment to creating a campus where all students feel seen, heard, and valued. By facilitating regular communication and feedback, the liaison will help connect student concerns, ideas, and experiences with the University's ongoing efforts to advance accompaniment, safety, and belonging.

"One of the priorities that emerged from the task force's work was creating more consistent opportunities for communication and partnership between students and university leadership," said Joan Iva Fawcett, dean, Social Justice Leadership & Community Empowerment.

Applications are due Sept. 25. The new position will serve as both a leadership opportunity for students and a valuable resource for strengthening collaboration between cultural clubs and university leaders.
