Few students have an easy path through an electrical engineering degree program. Cooper Krossa (’26) proves it’s attainable with a steady, determined climb.

Faculty named the Cayucos, California, native the 2026 Outstanding Senior in Electrical Engineering. While many awards recognize a four-year streak of high marks, the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering chose Krossa for his remarkable transformation and perseverance.

In their nomination, faculty members noted his effort and continuous improvement throughout his undergraduate studies. They witnessed him move from a student struggling to learn the abstract and theoretical concepts of the initial classes to one of the top performers in his senior-level classes.

"This is only possible if the mindset of a student in terms of dedication, consistency, and perseverance towards their classes’ changes," the faculty nomination stated. "In many ways, Cooper exemplifies our mission, our expectations of students, and our purpose."
