Commercial vehicles are a significant part of global business infrastructure, and operate in a wide range of conditions and requirements.

Dr. Philip Stephenson, the General Manager of the PACCAR Technical Center, spoke on current trends in adding electric power to trucks’ drivetrain, and on the use of sensors and control algorithms for driver assistance.

Dr. Stephenson leads teams responsible for product validation of Peterbilt and Kenworth trucks and for development, calibration and testing of PACCAR diesel and alternative fuel powertrains for North America. He earned his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Wisconsin.

The lecture was arranged by Dr. Rhonda Young (Civil Engineering) and presented as part of the Renouard Distinguished Lecturer series.
