About This Event

Gonzaga University’s School of Education (SOE) Diversity Social Justice (DSJ) Committee invites student poster or artwork proposals that enhance understanding and skills, while also contributing to productive and positive change within education, our community and beyond. Proposals may be submitted by individuals or groups of students, in collaboration with faculty and staff.

Sponsored by the Office of a Pedagogy of Hope in the School of Education, this conference was created to give students a space to discuss and present on interdisciplinary topics that intersect with diversity, inclusion, equity, and social justice matters, and for them to have an academic conference experience from start to finish.

At this conference, we seek to promote open-mindedness, celebrate diversity, and promote awareness of divergent views on our college campus and within our communities. This conference allows participants to problematize, conceptualize, research, and present across a wide range of disciplines around the topic of constructing a future of belonging.

Diversity-related topics may involve but are not limited to race/ethnicity, class, gender, culture, sexuality or orientation, disabilities/abilities, religion, or age, explored through the prism of the presenter.

The conference aims to explore the dedication that the Gonzaga Community has to diversity and all its aspects, including the celebration of various identities, inclusion, and pathways to creating meaningful ways of coming together and celebrating one another.

It is important to include perspectives across diverse identities including race, color, religion, national origin, political affiliation or belief, disability, age, gender identity, socioeconomic background, sexual orientation, institution, or industry background. Submissions to the Call for Proposals that address DEI, either directly or indirectly, will be given preference in the selection and program development process.

Open to all GU students, faculty, and staff! Featuring two keynote presentations and nearly 40 student-led presentations, this conference promises to be an outstanding event for all who attend. Attendance is free, and snacks and beverages are provided!.
