Malik Rosales selected as the Lukins & Annis Scholarship Recipient

In 2020, Lukins & Annis and Gonzaga University School of Law established an endowment scholarship for Gonzaga Law School students. The scholarship honors founders Gene Annis and Scott Lukins' legacy of a commitment to diversity and inclusiveness in education, housing, employment, and the legal profession.

Founded in 1972, Lukins & Annis serves the legal needs of clients all over the Pacific Northwest, with offices in Spokane, Coeur d’Alene, and Moses Lake.

The Lukins & Annis Scholarship was created with a specific goal to advance diversity, inclusion, and minority representation in the Pacific Northwest legal community. Malik Rosales will now be the seventh recipient of this scholarship. Rosales has also accepted a summer internship at the firm.

Rosales obtained dual degrees in Japanese and English (with a concentration in Linguistics) from Arizona State University with a special emphasis on cross-cultural communication. Prior to attending law school, he obtained business and legal experience as a senior litigation legal analyst at Carvana, LLC and a legal document specialist at RR Donnelley. Now, he is envisioning a career that brings together his interests in law, business, and communication. As he builds toward that career, he is the treasurer of Gonzaga Law School’s Black Law Students Association and a staff editor for the new Gonzaga Legislation and Policy Law Review. While he may originally be from Phoenix, Arizona, Malik and his spouse have quickly planted roots in Spokane by volunteering at food banks and events like Hoopfest. Malik looks forward to assisting the attorneys at Lukins & Annis, and continuing to serve the Spokane community, when he starts as a summer associate next year.

The firm is thrilled with the selection of Malik as this year’s scholarship recipient and is excited to have him join as a summer associate in 2027.

This scholarship program is organized through Gonzaga Law’s Kennelly Center for Law, Ethics & Commerce (K-CLEC). Established in 2006, K-CLEC offers students interdisciplinary programming in business, technology, and innovation – all with an eye toward the public good.
