In The News: Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce on Gonzaga Labs
Two members of the Integrus Architecture team, the Spokane firm that worked with Portland’s SRG Partnership on the Bollier Family Center for Integrated Science and Engineering, recently wrote about the new Patrick Ferro Center for Materials Research (FCMR) in the Seattle Daily Journal of Commerce.
Co-authors Tina Campanella and Brad Hakala write that the FCMR “stands out as a compelling example of how intentional design can shape program growth, strengthen industry connections, impact academic success, and influence student outcomes.”
“The center reflects a legacy of applied research, mentorship, and a commitment to connecting academic inquiry with real-world challenges,” they write. “What has emerged is more than a laboratory. It is a model for how universities can strengthen their competitive position, deepen ties to regional industry, and prepare students to step directly into the workforce after graduation.”
The duo addresses the rapid growth of Gonzaga’s Materials Science program, the increased opportunities for University-industry partnerships, the enhanced hands-on experiences for students and how the labs’ design positions Gonzaga for future success.
