At Gonzaga, some of our favorite memories are made over a meal, and the COG* is right at the center of it. From huckleberry salmon dinners to early-morning omelets, our fantastic on-campus eats are made possible by our wonderful campus partners at Sodexo and Gonzaga Housing & Dining, keeping Zags well-fed, well-cared-for, and coming back for seconds. Here are a few of our StuCom (Student Communications Team) students' favorites:

During my sophomore year, one of the stations in the COG served grilled cheese and tomato soup with fries for lunch on Mondays. My friends and I would all finish class and walk together to eat and catch up. Even though we live off campus now, we still talk about how we miss COG grilled cheese Mondays. We are making it our mission to go back one more time before we graduate!

One of my favorite COG memories is eating lunch during ticket claims for basketball games! Usually, people start to count down until tickets are dropped, and everyone gets excited. In general, I love getting lunch or dinner with my friends after class. It's always nice to meet up over a meal and catch up on our days. We highly recommend oatmeal cookies and hot chocolate!

I really like how the COG has different stations set up for students to have multiple options that rotate each day of the week. It really helps students who may be particular about what they eat and want a healthier option, like a salad and side of meat, or a meal with more carbs like a burger and fries. Ultimately, one of my all-time favorite meals to eat at the COG is grilled cheese and tomato soup. It was always a comforting meal to have on colder days with all of my roommates. Now that we live off campus, we always talk about how grilled cheese from the COG would hit the spot on a rainy day. It will be a meal that carries many memories and good times.

One of my favorite meals, and favorite memories, at the COG, has to be the morning omelets from my first year at Gonzaga. Every day at 8 a.m., I’d wait in line at the omelets bar, and by the time I reached the front, I’d be greeted by Richard, the legendary omelets maker himself. Over the course of the year, we got to know each other pretty well; we’d chat about sports, our plans for the day, and he’d always have a smile ready.  When I came back the following year, he still remembered my name. It’s those small, personal moments that make Gonzaga feel like home. And for the record, the bacon, cheese, and potato omelet will always be the go-to.

My favorite meal at the COG has to be grilled cheese and tomato soup every Monday! The sandwich is always warm and toasted, and the soup is so yummy, especially in the winter. It’s a simple meal, but always something I look forward to each week!

*(The moniker “COG” is an acronym for the phrase “Circulus Omnium Gonzagaorum,” which is fake Latin for “circle of company of all Gonzagans," not "Cafeteria of Gonzaga," though it is, in fact, the main cafeteria of Gonzaga---one of several dining options on campus!)
