Not only is honor rarely considered central to the relation between faith and reason, many articulations of the ethical life pit the love of honor starkly against the humility needed for genuinely Christian living. Through the work of Aristotle and Jane Austen, Stackle proposes the alternative view that the cultivation of faith and honor are mutually enriching.
