Carly Roberts
During high school, Carly was a founding member of the first restorative justice student court in the state of Washington. While attending Western Washington University, Carly was President of the Washington Student Association, a legislative advocacy organization representing over 150,000 public university students in Washington State. She then moved to Washington D.C. where she served as a Legislative Intern for Senator Patty Murray. She was also a Congressional Fellow for Running Start - a nonpartisan nonprofit that trains and inspires young women to run for office. She has also worked for lobbyists in the healthcare arena. Carly volunteers as the Events Chair for the Washington State Society which coordinates social and philanthropic events.
David Salgado
For the past two years, David has been an AmeriCorps Volunteer with the Superior Court of Phoenix. He provided legal consultation as well as translation services to clients seeking legal help in a variety of legal areas. Since 2015 he has volunteered on a weekly basis with the Vineyard Church food bank, as well as Habitat for Humanity while a student at Grand Canyon University. He was a Presidential Scholar and GCU Honors Institute Member. He is looking forward to attending law school to better advocate for those without a voice.
Emeline Smith
While attending Salem College, Emeline volunteered with the Triad National Organization for Women. She was an intern and Council Member of Triad Restorative Justice organization.
First as a volunteer and now as a Board Member, Emeline has been actively involved with One World Market, a fair trade nonprofit in her hometown of Durham, NC which promotes fair wages and safe working conditions. After a summer shadowing the work at her local ACLU office, Emeline hopes to work as an attorney for a multi-issue nonprofit organization that seeks to promote justice for citizens and communities in areas such as criminal justice, education, reproductive rights, fair employment and housing, or voting rights.
Jennifer Stuart
After attending University of California, Fullerton as a student athlete, Jennifer spent a year serving in the Peace Corps in the Philippines working as an English teacher. Her training included learning Tagalog, the official language of the Philippines, as well as Ilokano, the local dialect ascribed to the community where she was stationed. Since returning from the Peace Corps, Jennifer has worked as a preschool teacher. She has also spent considerable time volunteering organizing events as well as serving meals with Meals on Wheels.
Sarah Vatne
Prior to coming to Gonzaga, Sarah worked full-time for the Faith Action Network as a Hunger Advocacy Fellow. This included working with interfaith congregational ministries to provide
tools and support for educational advocacy for community members who have faced food insecurity and poverty. Sarah also spent a year as a South Africa International Volunteer with Young Adults in Global Mission. She completed administrative work and assisted social workers at the Ngwelezane Place of Safety, a Safe Home and Boarding School for children who have been orphaned, abandoned, abused, neglected, or children inflicted with HIV/AIDs.
