Roger Plothow spent 35 years as a print and online journalist, including more than 20 years as CEO, editor and publisher in Utah and Idaho. He received his Master of Arts degree in Communication and Leadership Studies from Gonzaga University, and he is a member of the National Communication Association Honor Society, Iota Rho (Gonzaga) Chapter. His master's degree thesis was on the pedagogy of remote learning, and he is a strong advocate for developing improved practices in online teaching. He teaches the COML course on Media Literacy and Digital Citizenship, drawing from his experience in journalism and his thesis research.
He and his, wife, Kathleen, live in Idaho Falls, where he is a member of the adjunct faculty of College of Eastern Idaho teaching Fundamentals of Oral Communication. He's also the Eastern Idaho Business Development and Program Manager for Idaho Business for Education's Youth Apprenticeship Program, which is fully funded by the U.S. Department of Labor.
