DakhaBrakha - Coming to The Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center

DakhaBrakha is a world-music quartet and “ethno chaos” band from Kyiv, Ukraine. Winners of the globalFEST artist award, their music is intimate, then riotous, plumbing the depths of contemporary roots and rhythms- inspiring cultural, artistic, and political liberation.
Created in 2004 at the Kyiv Center of Contemporary Art by the avant-garde theatre director Vladyslav Troitskyi, theatre work has left its mark on the band’s performances, which are accompanied by dramatic projected images, creating an exceptional experiential event for audiences.
According to NPR, “The group mixes everything from punk-pop to traditional Ukranian songs in cool yet beguiling textures…but it’s really the live shows that take DakhaBrakha beyond mere curiosity to utter brilliance.”
As part of their 2024 tour, DakhaBrakha will be performing at the Myrtle Woldson Performing Arts Center on March 26th, 2024, at 7:30 pm. Reserved seating tickets are on sale now.
Staff Spotlight
Stephen Cummins, Director
Stephen comes to Gonzaga from California State University, Chico where he was the Executive Director for University Public Engagement. There his portfolio of projects included Chico Performances: Performing Arts Series, North State Symphony, North State Public Radio (NPR Affiliate), Commencement and Special Events, and management of Historic Laxson Auditorium. Previous to his time in California he served cultural organizations at the College of DuPage’s McAninch Arts Center in suburban Chicago, and Krannert Center at University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. Stephen holds degrees in Theatre from the University of Texas at Austin and the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign and a doctorate in Higher Education Leadership from National Louis University, Chicago.
