Here we address questions related to major University Events for students, familiies, and the larger Gonzaga Community.
The Spokane County Health District clarified for us at the end of July that no large group gatherings will be permitted in Spokane for the foreseeable future and all events booked for the Spokane Arena have been canceled through the remainder of this calendar year. The newest Washington Safe Start guidelines limit gatherings to five people in any public setting, strongly discourage travel, and have serious impacts on food services throughout the city. Due to these factors, it is regretfully NOT possible for us to host guests in person over Labor Day.
Work is underway to create a virtual experience and program with distinct recognition and personal touches for students the weekend of September 5-6. The schedule will be announced to students, and updated on the commencement website as soon as possible.
The Class of 2020 students will receive emails as plans develop, and details will be posted at the Commencement website.
This year, Fall Family Weekend is becoming Fall Family Engagement, with virtual events in September, October & November. These events will be open to all Zags and their families and may include a virtual 5K, a virtual painting class, and a live stream of activities. More information will be shared this fall.
