Why are you in admissions at Gonzaga?
The first day I visited Gonzaga as a prospective student, I loved It so much. I did not want to leave it. I am in admissions because I want to show people the opportunities that Gonzaga can offer them. As a first-generation college student I wanted to make sure people know that a university as prestigious as Gonzaga is accessible to them. I had an amazing experience with the admission counselor that helped me transition into the Gonzaga community and I really want to be that resource for someone else just as that counselor was for me.
Where is your favorite place on campus?
My favorite place on campus is the amphitheater that faces Lake Arthur. The sight is beautiful and it changes with the seasons. The campus itself is gorgeous and has many beautiful sites but the amphitheater by Lake Arthur is by far my favorite.
What is your favorite thing to do in Spokane?
I love going downtown. I spent a lot of time in and around downtown during my undergrad. It’s great because of how close it is to campus. It offers great restaurants and beautiful scenery. I often go downtown for a movie, to walk around, and to look for new restaurants to try. Another great thing about downtown is Riverfront Park. There are a lot of really fun activities, like the SkyRide and the Looff Carrousel.
What is one piece of advice you have for prospective students?
Don’t feel like you’re a burden because you’re asking a lot questions! The application process itself seems daunting enough so you do not have to feel bad that you’re emailing or calling with questions. We are here to help you. A helpful tip that I found useful in my application process is to have a calendar dedicated to college deadlines. Be sure to include application, FAFSA, scholarship, and ACT and SAT deadlines. This will help you keep organized with the many important dates that occur in the college application process.
